Integrate Entra ID (Azure AD) with Xink

This guide will walk you through integrating your Xink account with your Entra ID (Azure AD) to read the users you specify in the Xink EMPLOYEES menu. Once set up, it automatically removes users from the Xink portal when the user no longer exists in Entra ID (Azure AD).

  • We integrate via the Microsoft API.
  • We have only read access to your Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • We have no access to any of your infrastructure information or passwords.
  • You make the connection.
  • Xink facilitates the integration via the Microsoft API.
  • You decide which data to read (read-only, NOT write).
  • We only store your email signature data (e.g. name, title, tel, etc.).

The default fields that are imported from Entra ID (Azure AD)

The default fields are imported into Xink once integrated with Entra ID (Azure AD).
You add/remove fields from the Fields menu.
You can change the order of the fields (visible in the EMPLOYEES menu).
You can edit the field properties if you need to map them to another location in your Entra ID (Azure AD).

Enable Entra ID (Azure AD) user synchronisation

Once you integrate your account, Entra ID (Azure AD) users will be automatically imported into the Xink portal.
Enable Azure AD user synchronisation under Preferences > Integration > Azure AD.

Click on the Link Azure AD Account.

Log in with your Microsoft 365 Admin account when prompted.

At least Application Administrator permission is required.

Approve the permission request by selecting Consent on behalf of your organisation and clicking Accept.

Once linked, the Tenant Name will automatically populate.
We recommend keeping the two default selections:
Look at the ProxyAddresses array for Email and the Other (Alternative) array for Email.
Leave Try to use User Principal Name as Email unchecked unless needed.

Add your filter(s) to exclude service accounts, meeting rooms, etc.:

Click on Check Connectivity to confirm connection status.
We recommend enabling Delete Employees to auto-remove users who do not match the filter criteria, keeping your user list and license count accurate.

If all works, hit Save, and your Xink + Entra ID (Azure AD) integration is complete!

The Employees menu will update with the next sync, or click "Sync Now"

  • It updates automatically every four hours.
  • To trigger it manually, click Sync Now on your Dashboard.
  • Email signature information like name, phone, job title, etc., gets refreshed.
  • New users are added and old ones removed (when 'Delete Employees' is checked).
