Deploy Xink Client via GPO (Domain Environment)

Short answer:
Use Group Policy (GPO) to centrally deploy the Xink MSI client and authentication token in a domain environment, so email signatures are automatically updated in Classic Outlook on Windows.

This deployment method is designed for Active Directory domain environments.

It allows administrators to deploy the Xink client centrally, rather than relying on manual invitation emails for each employee.

The setup includes:

  • A per-machine installer (MSI file)
  • A policy template (ADM file) that applies the required HKLM registry configuration

Ideal for Classic Outlook environments

  • Automated deployment to all users without interaction
  • No reliance on invitation emails or access codes
  • Consistent setup across medium and large organizations

Supported environments

  • Outlook 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, 2021 (Windows)
  • Outlook on Citrix / RDS (desktop)
  • Outlook published apps (Citrix) using a desktop wrapper
  • Active Directory joined PCs

Two-step deployment process

  1. Deploy the Xink Client MSI to install the application.
  2. Deploy the ADM template (HKLM registry) to authenticate the client with your Xink account.
You must uninstall any manually installed Xink clients before deploying the MSI package. These versions cannot run together.

Deploy Xink MSI client and token

Step 1: Deploy Xink Client MSI via GPO

Step 2: Deploy ADM template (Token ID) via GPO

After deployment, run gpupdate /force to apply policies immediately.

If using SCCM, you can deploy the MSI and registry keys without GPO.
See SCCM deployment guide

Verify deployment

  1. Log in to a domain PC or Citrix/RDS session.
  2. Open the Xink client from the system tray.
  3. Click Update Now.

You should see:

  • Updating email signatures
  • Email signatures updated

If only the first message appears, the Token ID (HKLM registry) is not applied correctly. Run gpupdate /force and verify the configuration.

Token management

If a token is compromised, you can revoke it:

  • Go to Preferences > Downloads
  • Select ADM template (HKLM registry)
  • Click Revoke

Revocation is permanent. A new token must be created if needed.

Update the MSI

Keep your Xink Client up to date:

Step 1: Check latest version

Step 2: Update MSI via GPO
