Allow multiple rules to be applied

Hello,

We have a situation where users who are being given different signatures using different rules need an additional optional common signature. Due to rule execution stopping once a rule is met, this is not possible.

Would it be possible to get this feature or is there another way to do this without having to apply an optional signature to the individual users.

Thanks

Sandeep

  • Hi Sandeep -

The priority of the rules are top down.
When there is a overlap, the top rule got preference.

You can override rules with individual settings.

You can apply rules to fields or folders.

You might be able to use AND/OR or you can use another field or folder.

Please provide an example and I'll take a quick look.

    Thanks

  • Hi Jesper,

We have a rule for each department in the company to assign a specific signature. We have Zero hour staff who work in different departments. What we would like is for the zero hour staff to be able to keep this signature but also add an optional signature if they are added to a another specific group in our AD.

So in my case, i'm part of a rule which maps to X signature through a rule, but i have then been added to a group/rule which should give me signature Z. Then there might be another staff member that maps to Y signature but also needs to be mapped to Signature Z. The only way i can see to do this is if we can apply multiple rules.

I've spoken to support and said that this would be the only way to do this and i need to do a feature request for this.

I'm happy to have a quick call with you if you would like me to show you on our system.

    Thanks,

    Sandeep

  • Hi Sandeep -

    Yes, let's brainstorm on a quick Q&As.

  • Hi Sandeep -

I quick summary after our meeting this week:

    • You set the default email signature via a rule (when staff are hired).
    • After a while, you add the newly hired staff to an AD group (where you set the OPTIONAL SIGNATURES)
    • You want the 1st rule default settings to be preserved when applying the OPTIONAL signatures via the 2nd rule

I'll leave your suggestion open so that others can like it and help make it a priority.

    • We discussed this internally and concluded that it will add to the complexity of configuring rules (for the majority of clients).
    • Thus, we suggest that you create extra AD groups where you can include setting the default email signature for each group.

    Thank you for your understanding.

  • Hi Jesper,

This doesn't help us, as we will have to add each of the users optional signatures individually. Is there a reason we can't have a checkbox to allow the rules to continue processing and is unchecked by default. By doing this, it would remove any complexity to other users. Not having this option makes it difficult for us to manage the users optional signatures.

    Thanks,

    Sandeep

  • Hi Sandeep -

We concluded that your suggestion will add complexity for the majority of clients.

You want the 1st rule default settings to be preserved when applying the OPTIONAL signatures via the 2nd rule.
We kept your suggestion open in case other clients like your idea.

When you create more AD groups, you can assign the OPTIONAL (and set the New/Reply) signatures to the group settings (you only do it individually if the settings are for one user).

    Thanks

  • Hej Jesper.

  • Hi Maya -

Let's find out during a quick remote session > Pick my time slot (30 min.).
